How Poverty Affects the Quality of Education in Haiti

As we all know, education is a fundamental human right and a key component of breaking the cycle of a pressing issue – poverty. It is among the critical needs of all persons besides food, clothing, and shelter. Quality education is an effective tool for minimizing joblessness, enhancing health standards, and achieving lasting growth and progress.

Poverty, thus, influences the quality of education in return. Knowledge gives children the power to dream of a better future, as well as the confidence to pursue a complete education. If there’s poverty, there would be a lack of schools offering quality education that can mold children into dreamers and achievers. There may be different children’s programs but these may not be enough if we are talking about larger and global scales.

Studies show that half of the public-school teachers in Haiti lack basic qualifications. Almost 80% of these teachers did not receive formal training, according to research. Poverty levels are potent in influencing the quality of education that children will receive in the long run. Aside from this, children cannot go to school if their parents cannot afford tuition fees. With 78% of the population in Haiti living on less than $2 a day and 54% living on less than $1 a day, parents could not even afford if tuition fees are low. This is why our community Christian services in Palm Beach Gardens, FL are doing something about the problem.

In addition to the help of a non-denominational organization, the government must likewise put in more revenue in the education sector, especially for children coming from poor families to obtain a quality education.

Poverty affects everything. Do something about it and lend a hand. Call our non-profit organization in Haiti – BETHESDA COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN SERVICES – today!
